Casino games
Every game here carries its RTP, its volatility, the studio that built it and the licensed casinos that offer it. Demos are free and need no account, and nothing can be won or lost in them.
RTP: the number that decides everything
RTP, or return to player, is the share of stakes returned to players over the long run. A slot at 96% RTP returns about $960,000 of every $1,000,000 staked. The remaining $40,000 is the house edge.
Three things about RTP that rarely get said:
- It describes the long run, not your session. The average settles over tens or hundreds of thousands of spins. Across a hundred spins you can finish anywhere.
- The same slot can ship at different RTPs. Studios supply several configurations: 96.5%, 94.2%, 92%, and the operator chooses. We publish the RTP as the individual casino declares it, not the headline figure from the developer.
- RTP and volatility are independent. Two slots at 96% play completely differently if one is low volatility and the other high.
Volatility
Volatility describes how wins are distributed over time.
Volatility | How it plays | Suits |
|---|---|---|
Low | frequent small wins, steady balance | longer sessions on a smaller budget, clearing wagering |
Medium | a compromise | general play |
High | long dry spells, occasional large win | bigger budget, tolerance for swings |
When clearing a bonus, low volatility is almost always the better choice: the aim is to survive to the turnover target, not to hit a big win.
The same game is not the same game everywhere
A slot is built once and then configured per market, and the configuration is set by the regulator rather than by the studio. Great Britain is the strict end of the range and worth knowing about even if you do not play there, because it shows what the rules can cover:
- autoplay banned, so every spin has to be started by the player;
- a minimum spin speed of 2.5 seconds, which rules out turbo and quick spin;
- stake caps per spin;
- no losses disguised as wins, so a return smaller than the stake must not be celebrated with win sounds and graphics;
- no reverse withdrawals, so a cash-out cannot be pulled back to keep playing;
- elapsed time and net position displayed during the session.
An offshore licence requires none of this. The same title on an offshore site runs faster, autoplays, and will happily play a win animation over a loss. That is the practical difference between the two, and it is visible within about thirty seconds of play.
The game types
- Slots. The bulk of any lobby. They differ in reel structure, how wins are evaluated (fixed paylines, ways, cluster) and bonus features. RTP typically falls between 94% and 97%.
- Roulette. European roulette has a single zero and a house edge of 2.70%. American roulette has two zeros and 5.26%. Nearly double, for the same game. French roulette with la partage halves the edge on even-money bets to 1.35%.
- Blackjack. With basic strategy the house edge is around 0.5%, among the lowest available. That depends on following the strategy and on the variant paying 3:2 for a blackjack rather than 6:5.
- Live casino. A real dealer, streamed in real time: roulette, blackjack, baccarat and game shows. The pace is slower than slots, which means fewer bets per hour and a slower loss at the same house edge.
- Video poker. Part slot, part poker. Played correctly some variants exceed 99% RTP, but that requires knowing the pay table of the specific version.
What a demo can and cannot teach you
Most slots offer a demo mode with play money, free and without registration.
- It will teach you: how the game works, what triggers the feature, how often it pays on average, and whether the pace suits you.
- It will not teach you: whether a machine is "due". It never is. Every spin is independent and the random number generator has no memory. A losing streak does not improve the odds of the next spin.
Play money also changes behaviour: people risk differently when nothing is at stake. When you switch to real play, start below the stake you used in the demo.
Certification
Random number generators and declared RTPs are verified by independent test houses, and the certificate covers a specific game in a specific configuration. At a licensed operator this is a condition of doing business.
That is the practical difference from unlicensed sites: there, nobody has checked whether the game pays what it claims.
Frequently asked questions
What is RTP and what does 96% mean?
The share of stakes returned to players over the long run. At 96% RTP, the long-run house edge is 4%.
Can I play slots for free without registering?
Yes, in demo mode with play money. Real money cannot be won in a demo.
Which casino game has the best odds?
Blackjack played with basic strategy, at roughly a 0.5% house edge. Among slots it depends on the RTP of the individual title.
Is European roulette better than American?
Yes. One zero instead of two means a 2.70% house edge rather than 5.26%.
Why does the same slot feel different on another site?
Because it can be a different configuration: a lower RTP setting, a different spin speed, autoplay switched on or off. We publish the RTP each casino declares for that title rather than the studio's headline number.
